Then there is the question of finances as being a business owner you want to keep the capital investment at a minimum while having a great design around your bar. To help you make an informed decision, we have decided to do a detailed analysis of how much a typical tap system costs and what kind of budget you should expect

Up to 6 Taps System ($2,200 - $6,900)

This sort of beer tap system is suited for low- to medium-sized pubs. Beer tap systems like these usually offer a maximum of 6 taps and use kegerators. These use air-cooling and are considered the simplest draft beer system that a bar can have.

Breakdown of the Costs

The cost of the tap-system depends on how many taps you want to buy and whether you want to buy them collectively or individually. If you decide to buy a basic 6-tap system then it can cost you in the range of $300-$500/each. Then you will need to buy a kegerator that depending on its capacity can cost you anywhere between $1000-$5500 for an average system. You will also need to buy couplers for attaching the beer line to the kegerator, you can expect up to $40-$60 per coupler. You will also need to buy a beer tower that will cost you in the vicinity of $500-$800. Then there are the costs for the CO2 tank and the regulators which will depend on your locality.

Pros

  • In this case, the beer system installation will be very easy and you won't need much practice in operating it.
  • It is very economical so you won’t incur a significant capital cost.

Cons

  • As your kegerator will be placed directly beneath the bar table so it will take a lot of room.
  • These kinds of beer tap systems don’t use standard kegerators rather they use smaller ones so you might have to change them more often.
  • You can only offer up to 6 beers on tap options and some customers may not like this lack of choice.

Who should buy A DRAFT BEER SYSTEM?

You should only buy this beer tap system if you run a very small pub or if your budget is really tight. However, if your customer base only prefers a few beers on tap then you can consider using this beer tap system.

7-12 Taps System ($12,000 - $20,000)

Beers on tap are gaining popularity and that is why pubs prefer to have a larger selection available to their customers. For providing a wide range of options, pubs need larger beer tap systems and that is why having up to 12 taps seems more reasonable than having a basic kegerator system.

Thinking of Installing a Beer Tap System?

1. Long run system

These are used more commonly and there is a good reason for that. In the long run system, the kegs are kept very far from the bar. So, beer can get warm by the time it reaches the tap that is why we have to use a glycol system to keep it cool at all times.

2. Direct draw system

In a direct draw system, the kegs are stored in a cooler that needs to be nearby the bar table. As the distance between the keg and the tap is relatively short so an air-cooled system works just fine.

Breakdown of the costs

You can expect to pay $600-$800 per tap depending on how many you buy. You will need to buy a drip tray that can cost you between $250-$300. The cost of a glycol system depends on the distance of the kegs from the bar table and it can cost you between $1,200 to $5,300. Once you have bought the glycol system, you will also have to buy a trunk line that holds the glycol system along with the beer line. The cost of the trunk line depends on the length and usually starts from $15-$25 per foot. The larger the distance between the keg and the tap, the more it will cost. You will also need to buy a beer tower that will cost around $2,000-$5,000 for average tower designs. For the sake of estimation, you can expect to pay at least $1,000-$2,000 per beer on tap.

Pros

  • It is much more efficient.
  • You get to offer more beers on tap and hence attract more customers.
  • You can keep all of your running and backup kegs in the same storage. Hence, it will be much more convenient to change a keg when it runs out.

Cons

  • The initial investment is quite large.
  • It needs to be properly maintained.
  • Considerable practice is required to avoid any hiccups during peak hours.

Who should buy Beer Tap System?

This system is more suitable for larger pubs and bars that attract a lot of customers. If your bar is aimed to be towards the high-end then this system is the ideal choice. The initial investment is quite large but the ROI will be significant as well. Having a 12-tap system gives your bar a premium feel and being able to offer more beers on tap will allow you to increase your revenue and consequently increase your profit margin. However, if you are just starting a pub and your financial constraints are very tight then this system might not be the reasonable choice for you.

If you run a very large pub and want to offer more than 12 beers on taps then your requirements exceed everything available on the market. If this is the case then neither of the systems mentioned above will be able to fulfill your requirements. So, you should contact a reliable vendor for a customized quote. A reputable vendor will design a system that perfectly fits your needs and will also help with the installation of this customized beer system.

Temperature Tips for Storing Your Draft Beer
29 Jul, 2022
Temperature is critical for two main reasons when it comes to storing your draft beer. The first is that warmer temperatures will cause your beer to go flat faster. The second reason is that warmer temperatures will cause the flavors in your beer to change and become less enjoyable. If you're looking to fix your kegerator we suggest reading more here . The ideal draft beer temperature for storing draft beer is between 36-48 degrees Fahrenheit. This range will keep your beer from going flat and will also maintain the flavor profile that the brewer intended. If you can't store your draft beer in this temperature range, it's still important to keep it as cool as possible. Warmer temperatures will cause your beer to go flat and change flavor more quickly, so it's best to err on the side of caution.
